HELP WANTED Being a visionary, I have lots of great ideas on the slate but just too many to accomplish them all in a timely manner! I am seeking some skilled volunteers to help with the following PILLAR projects. I have a terrific staff of volunteers in our office who have been very supportive. It is time to recruit some worker-bees for the larger projects. So, thanks to Dean Tollefson’s suggestion, I am reaching out for your wise and wonderful assistance. Below is a list with brief descriptions of the projects needing your help. You will notice that several items need immediate attention. Please contact me on my direct line at 633-4979 to volunteer or for further information. With enthusiasm, PILLAR Preview: I would like to build a team of people to assist with the production of the PILLAR Preview from start to finish. We need writers, proofreaders, and idea people. This publication could become a great venue for seniors. Articles, classified ads, and other creative items. We are now working feverishly on the next catalog edition. Time Flies When You are Having Fun…..and even when you aren’t This is the tentative title of our book, which has been sitting for two years and needs someone to guide it to publication. Lucy Bell proofread and edited all the material to date. The Aging Realities Photo Display is a spin-off of the book. We are currently applying for grant money to support the book and the Aging Realities Photo Display. Aging Realities Photo Display: We need someone to contact designated community figures and gather their photos for the display and their stories for the book. The goal is to have this photo display ready by January for our classroom gallery opening. We have the photographer and framer working on ten displays. Ten more are needed prior to the opening. Sponsorships: We have sponsorship spaces available for 2008. The sponsorship program is currently earmarked to help with the expenses of the PILLAR Preview. Advertising currently covers only a portion of the costs. I need someone who is willing to approach companies and corporations ASAP. Idea people are also helpful. Fundraising: Seeking a committee of people who will brainstorm creative ideas for fundraising and who will organize and implement those ideas. We had to drop our top fundraiser, the annual garage sale, because it was too time-consuming for me. We have lots of creative ideas for fundraising projects, but limited time to implement them. Classroom Gallery: We need someone to gather a few local gallery contracts so we can create a contract for PILLAR participants. We also need someone to be the contact person who works with the artists to schedule the display of their artwork and handle the potential sale of the artwork, which will be on a shared-donation to PILLAR basis. Advisory Committee: PILLAR needs to evaluate and lay the groundwork for its future. Your fresh ideas and input would be greatly appreciated. This committee meets monthly. The goal is to create a picture of PILLAR and its role in the community as it continues to offer lifelong learning programs. Travel Committee: This new committee will help to plan and coordinate educational trips and tours. It meets monthly and has lots of research to do between meetings. |
